Since 1970, Newburyport Family Practice has been serving adults, children, and families in the greater Newburyport area with all of their primary healthcare needs. The practice focuses on creating personal relationships with their patients, providing practical and personal healthcare tailored uniquely for each individual. Dr. Kevin K. Lanphear, D.O.
Dr. Kevin Lanphear is a New England native and current Newburyport resident. After being born and raised in Rhode Island, he traveled north to Springvale, Maine where he attended Nasson College. Medical school took him south to the Kirskville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. His medical continued while serving his country, performing medical residency with the Navy. There, he held residency at the Naval Regional Medical Center in San Diego, California as well as the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, Florida. As a naval flight surgeon he was stationed at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida with deployments to Rota, Spain and Sigonella, Italy. Upon getting married, he and his wife decided to return to his New England roots and moved to Newburyport to join the practice as a family physician in 1986. Read More.
Dr. Renae M. Freid, D.O.
Dr. Renae Freid was born in Kansas but moved to New England prior to high school. She graduated from high school in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine where gained interests in science & biology. Her studies continued nearby at the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. She went on to graduate from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. She attended residency at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas.
Dr. Freid joined Newburyport Family Practice in the spring of 2003. Her interests include children’s as well as women’s health. She is also trained in osteopathic manipulation. She currently resides in West Newbury and enjoys spending time outdoors, in Maine with friends and family. Read More.
Sarah Rizzo, PA-C
Sarah Rizzo was born and raised in upstate New York. She received her bachelors in biology from Saint Michaels College in Burlington, VT, where she met her husband, a Massachusetts native. She went on to get a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies at Salus University in Philadelphia, PA.
Sarah started working at Newburyport Family Practice during the summer 2015. She has been a New England ever since. In her spare time, she enjoys relaxing with her family. Read More.
Greg Hijeck, PA-C
Greg Hijeck was born and raised in northern Connecticut (Patriots territory). He received his bachelors in biology locally at Gordon College in Wenham, MA. He went on to achieve a masters in physician assistant studies at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. Before starting at Newburyport Family Practice, he worked in emergency medicine at Melrose Wakefield Hospital.

Michele Gelinas, NFP
Michelle Gelinas was born & raised in New Hampshire. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, MA. After graduation, she worked for five years in acute care nursing. This work led to her Master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Endicott College in Beverly, MA. Michelle began her Nurse Practitioner career in primary care at Cornerstone in Rowley, MA and has now transitioned to Newburyport Family Practice.
Michelle’s clinical interests include preventative and holistic care as well as women’s health. Read More.
